The South Queensferry Mosaic Mural
The mosaic mural was created by many people in the community of South Queensferry, in workshops run by artists Gary Smith and Mike Spring of Common Ground Arts, and is made up of hundreds of small waste and broken tiles, mosaic tessera, mirror glass, as well as shells, pebbles and other items collected from the shore.
The workshops took place over several years in various locations around Queensferry, including the Queensferry Community Centre, The Library, The Priory Church and The Haven.
Eventually the ideal site for its installation became available, as the transformational work at Hawthorn Bank was completed and a beautiful Community Garden created.
Many people young and old made contributions to the mural while learning a new skill.
